Yep, that's me in this picture... the knight :)). I was doing a product photo-shoot, and i had some medieval objects there, and couldn't restrain myself from trying them. Also I had the occasion to play with a longbow (and a Mongol and Hungarian bow, but i had done that in the past), and it was really cool. Not the longest long bow possible but still long enough. Swords and rapiers where also included.
And after this experience I wondered what is it that makes a knight. Not talking here about all the knights that took their position with the sword. I am talking about the true values of a knight (just a few from the list): respect, honor, sincerity, fight for life and freedom. I consider this the core of the value code. What strikes me is the resemblance between many military doctrines. We find the core present all the way from ancient Spartans to knights in England and Japan. And another thing, in some areas they exceeded the warrior level and passed to ordinary civilians to.
Why don't we see them anymore today? Principles that where the norm for thousands of years have disappeared in a few decades. Could this be the wind of change? Hope not, i hope that this is just a sand storm that we are lost in, and everything will get back to normal. We need normality soon, because many things are not right anymore. We all need to search our sole and look deep in our heart and ask ourselves if this is the world we want to live in, or grow our children in. And if not we should take action. I'm not talking here about changing the world, that is not the idea. The idea is to change our self, and trough our own enlightenment we will enlighten the ones around us. And that is the only salvation, that is the way of the knight, we have to prove our strength not in waging war , but in forging peace.
